Tournament of Roses Parade Composition Competition

The Rose Parade, "America's New Year Celebration", has been running since 1890. Over 1 million people line the streets of Pasadena, California to watch this yearly extravaganza, with an additional estimated 250 million TV viewers worldwide. The Salvation Army has participated in this world famous event for over 90 years, and this year, you chose the music we play.

Salvationist composers from all across the world participated in a competition to find a new march that will be played during the 2011 Rose Parade. They followed a strict set of guidelines. We were looking for a march that is immediately attractive to the listener, but most importantly one that clearly presents well known Christian hymns, enabling us to deliver the message of Jesus Christ to potentially millions of people.

The winner was announced, and the piece played, as part of the Salvation Army Western Territorial Welcome to Cadets celebrations - September 11th, 2010.

Winner: Stand Up, Stand Up!
