Major Philip Wise lived his life as a testimony of Christ. A gentle giant, Phil lived out the love and compassion that is missing so much in the world today. His life was a beacon of light in amidst much darkness, and he touched so many with the message, that he carried, of Christ's love and sacrifice for us all. On Christmas Eve, 2009, in front of his 3 young children, Phil's life was suddenly and dramatically stolen from him at the hands of another. Though his life was cut short, his ministry and mission continued. Through this tragedy, and the media coverage it generated, millions of individuals were faced with the message of Christ's love, and lives were impacted both across the United States and beyond. From the time Phil was a boy in Weirton, WV, and throughout his short life, music remained a constant passion of his. He realized that music not only had the ability to entertain, but, also had the power to impact and change lives for the better. It was through that passion, that he worked to promote the Youth Music Education Program at his Corps (church) in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He believed that all youth should be able to enjoy and experience the life changing power of music. When young, Phil and lifelong friend Jon Cecil Owens composed a song called "Father of Light", and at the celebration of Phil's life and his promotion to glory following his passing, Jon was asked to share that song with those in attendance. After much prayer and thought, it was that Jon would enter into the studio with his band and record "Father of Light" in order to use it to continue Phil's legacy.
